Watch crimson-robed monks perform sacred mask dances in the centuries-old Paro Dzong, where precious religious relics and artefacts, preserved for generations, remain within the fortress’s consecrated walls.

Witness the festival’s powerful crescendo before dawn on the final day, as monks unveil the colossal Thongdrel—a towering, intricately embroidered Buddhist thangka that bestows immediate blessings upon all who behold it. Watch mesmerising performances in the grand outdoor pavilion, where masked monks and traditional artists bring ancient legends to life through sacred cham dances and vibrant folk performances.

Established in 1670 by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye, this revered festival honours Guru Rinpoche, the patron saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. Held during the auspicious eighth month of the Bhutanese lunar calendar, the three-day celebration showcases the Kingdom’s finest dancers from the prestigious Royal Academy of Performing Arts, who perform alongside monks in an enchanting display of colour, music, and devotion that has remained unchanged for over 350 years.

This five-day spiritual gathering draws pilgrims and international visitors alike to witness sacred ceremonies within the majestic Paro Dzong, where centuries-old holy relics emerge from their sanctuaries for rare public displays.

Experience the festival’s powerful culmination at dawn on the final day, as monks unveil the magnificent Thongdrel—a towering, sacred thangka that dominates the dzong’s facade. As the spiritual birthplace of Bhutan’s sacred mask dances, this revered festival showcases the original cham performances that would later spread across the Kingdom’s valleys, making it a cornerstone of Bhutanese performing arts.

Marvel at the festival’s crescendo at dawn on the final day, when monks unveil the magnificent Thongdrel—a towering sacred tapestry whose very sight is believed to bestow immediate spiritual liberation. This unique combination of spiritual festival and mountain adventure offers an unforgettable glimpse into Bhutan’s rich Buddhist heritage and stunning natural landscape.

13 Days Black Neck Crane Festival

Witness nature’s sacred spectacle in Phobjikha Valley, where majestic Black-necked cranes descend from the Tibetan Plateau each winter, transforming Bhutan’s most beautiful glacial valley into a sanctuary for these rare Himalayan birds. Local Bhutanese consider these endangered cranes to be divine manifestations, believing they are reincarnated deities who return each year to protect their mystical valley.

Experience the Black-necked Crane Festival on November 11th, a unique celebration that harmoniously combines wildlife conservation with Bhutanese culture and royal tradition. Watch as local schoolchildren perform the graceful crane dance, while monks chant prayers for the birds’ protection, all against the backdrop of the valley’s pristine marshlands. This auspicious date also marks the birth anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, adding royal significance to this extraordinary conservation festival.

Trip to Remember

We did not know what to expect when we landed in Bhutan but it turned out to be a great adventure. Guided by the knowledgeable, bubbly and friendly Ms Kinley and driven around by the warm and knowledgeable Mr Pee Dee, we had a fantastic time. The itinerary was great and the hotels we stayed in were fantastic. The highlight of the trip was our 6 hours hike up and down Tiger’s Nest. My knee caps and feet will forever remember this haha. Also, the Bhutanese food like ezay, momos and ema datshi are a must try! Thanks to Kinley and Pee Dee for introducing them. Overall, we had a fantastic time in Bhutan, all thanks to Kinley and Pee Dee and of course Bhutan Best.

Great Location, even better Tour

I did a 6D5N Bhutan tour covering Paro, Thimphu and Punakha with Sangay as guide and Lottee (hope i spell this right) as driver. Both did an overwhelming job making this tour an exceptional experience. Hotels and food were excellent, i was taken best care of my wellbeing. Sangay and Lottee did their very best, taking me to the highlights of my visited places, providing all background info, giving answers to all my (naive) questions. The tour was organized very well to each detail, my guide was always responsive prior and during the tour and even when i had special requests they took good care.

Most memorable trip made extra special by exceptional service

Ignore the lone bad review. I used Bhutan Best Travel for my solo trip to Bhutan in December last year and I have nothing but praise for their service. I had settled on BBT primarily as Jacyln was a fellow Singaporean and I felt assured after speaking to her. I had to postpone my trip after all the bookings were done due to a family emergency and Jaclyn was most helpful and all re applications/re bookings were done promptly and efficiently. Throughout my 9 days trip, I received 5 star care from my guide, Rabbit and driver, Khandu. Rabbit gave me valuable knowledge on Bhutan and Buddhism and made sure that I get the most amazing photos! While Khandu was most attentive to my needs. Both were instrumental in making this trip a most memorable one for me. What I love most was the fully customisable nature. No request was too small or unachievable. My dietary concerns and other wishes were duly met. Yes, BBT is not the cheapest agent around but their service is exceptional. And Bhutan certainly lives up to its name. The place has such a mystical aura. I highly recommend a visit to Bhutan and get BBT!

Thank you for a bucket list, hassle-free, and overall wonderful trip!!

Bhutan had been on our bucket list for a long time, and Bhutan Best finally made it happen for us! Our consultation and booking with co-founder Jaclyn was quick and easy, and she happily tailored our private to suit the needs of my mom and grand-aunt. While in Bhutan, our guide Lotay and driver Sanjay made the trip very comfortable, smooth-going and enjoyable! Lotay was a fountain of knowledge and shared his love for his country and its people with us, alongside great jokes on the sometimes long journey. Sanjay was a great driver (very careful) and kept the car clean everyday and made sure we were supplied with water. Rain dashed our plans on the last few days and unfortunately we couldn’t do the hike we wanted to do but Lotay happily rearranged some new activities (eg cooking demonstration at a farm stay, a massage) for us to do while in Paro instead. When our flight home was delayed for over 9 hours, Lotay kept in touch with us constantly to ensure we got on the plane. Overall, the trip was really easy for us as Bhutan Best took care of everything from the get go - packing instructions, airport pickup, hotel check ins, meals etc. ☺️

Dream Come True Vacation

My wife and I recently booked a 9 day private tour of Bhutan with Bhutan Best Travel. Words cannot adequately describe how pleased and happy we are with the high quality of value, service, and price. Beginning with the travel coordinator Jaclyn Zhang, who provided us with the perfect travel package. Upon arriving at the Paro airport in Bhutan, we received a warm and gracious welcome by our guide Sangay and driver Khandu. Both made it their mission to provide us with an extraordinary vacation experience. We were delighted with our guide’s enthusiasm and passion to teach us all that he knew about his country’s people, their history, culture, customs and cuisine. Our driver Khandu kept us safe on the road with his ninja driving skills and the uncanny ability to manifest just about anything we wanted to happen, earning him the nickname Kan-do. These two talented individuals are responsible for making our vacation dreams come true. We highly recommend Bhutan Best Travel to anyone considering a visit to Bhutan. There is no better choice!
